The Board of Directors of Citizens Bank International, Ltd is proud to announce the appointment of Mr. Kul Chandra Gautam as its new Chairman effective 30 April 2010. Mr. Gautam has had a long and distinguished career with the United Nations serving as the highest ranking Nepali citizen in the world organization. He has much experience and strong interest in socio-economic development, combating poverty and promoting the well-being of women, children and vulnerable groups.

Welcoming the appointment, the CEO of Citizens Bank, Mr. Rajan Singh Bhandari said that the Bank family was delighted to have someone of Mr. Gautam’s stature to help guide the institution as it strives to fulfill its corporate vision of becoming a leading bank known for its excellence in the region. “Mr. Gautam’s diplomatic skills and development experience will help us not just to provide high quality service to our shareholders and customers, but also in better discharging our corporate social responsibility and contributing to national development”, he said.
Accepting the appointment, Mr. Gautam said, “I am excited to be associated with the Citizens Bank that has established a fine reputation as an efficient and customer-friendly bank within 3 short years of its establishment”. “The financial sector can contribute immensely to the reduction of poverty, provision of basic social services and reconstruction and development of our country”, he said, “I look forward to learning more about the burgeoning banking sector in Nepal and how best it can be harnessed for the benefit of not just shareholders and customers, but also for broader national development of the country”.
As Chairman of the Board, Mr. Gautam succeeds Dr. Shankar Sharma who was recently appointed Nepalese Ambassador to USA.
